Americans Trying to Survive Coronavirus Crisis, Trump Family Trying to Make a Buck
Trump, Jared Follow the ‘Hate the Government, Love The Government Check’ Motto

Americans are currently dealing with closing businesses and forced shut-ins as people are advised to avoid large gatherings. So, it’s comforting to know that some people are trying to get rich off the coronavirus scare. And it’s not just the hustlers who are buying up toilet paper and hand sanitizers and trying to sell it for a profit. It’s also right within the White House. Yes, in the administration of so-called billionaire President Donald Trump, there are people trying to make a buck as America is looking at thousands of deaths.
As I’ve said before, conservatives might say they hate the government, but they secretly love it. Anyone who’s worked in government knows that Uncle Sam spends billions on services with private companies. Conservatives see that and they want a piece of the action — especially Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law. This is the same Jared Kushner who failed his national security background check and turned to a Facebook group to crowdsource ideas on how to fight the coronavirus!
The U.S. government’s response to the coronavirus has been so haphazard that many Americans were probably glad that an insurance company had stepped up to the plate. But on Sunday, I learned from a social media post that Oscar Health has ties to the Kushner family. After doing some research, I confirmed this was true. Later in the day, Raw Story reported that Oscar Health is owned by Joshua Kushner, Jared’s brother.
The government is getting ready to allocate billions of dollars to contain the coronavirus. This includes spending money on vaccines, testing and buying masks. On Friday, March 13, Oscar Health, a “tech-driven health insurance company‘’’ announced it was opening testing centers for COVID-19 (the coronavirus.) The U.S. government’s response to the coronavirus has been so haphazard that many Americans were probably glad that an insurance company had stepped up to the plate.
But on Sunday, I learned from a social media post that Oscar Health has ties to the Kushner family. After doing some research, I confirmed this was true. Later in the day, Raw Story reported that Oscar Health is owned by Joshua Kushner, Jared’s brother. Peter Thiel, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist and GOP booster, also has a stake in the company.
Thiel, who was an early investor in Facebook, might be a libertarian but he loves his government money. Palintir, a big data company also owned by Thiel, works with major corporations but also has contracts with several government agencies such as the FBI, the CIA, NSA and many branches of the military. According to a Business Insider article, Palintir did $161 million of business with the government in 2019.
Kushner probably wants to go down the same route with Oscar Health. The federal government and state governments are going to start ramping up testing for the coronavirus and he wants Oscar Health to be on the receiving end of that business. This wouldn’t be the first time Jared Kushner has used government connections to financially benefit his family.
Before he entered the White House, Kushner was more than $1 billion in debt from purchasing 666 Park Avenue in New York City. But after a few years in the White House, that debt has been erased. In 2018, the property was purchased by Brookfield Asset Management, a Canadian firm that is partially owned by Qatar, according to The New York Times.
Kushner is also close to Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and used his connections in the Middle East to look for investors to take over the property. In 2018, Newsweek reported that Qatar was blockaded by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. In 2017, the Qatari government turned down a chance to invest in the Kushner Cos. Apparently, something made the Qataris change their minds.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Trump has caused a diplomatic incident with Germany when it was discovered he was trying to lure German scientists at CureVac to the United States to continue their work on a coronavirus vaccine. However, Trump wanted the U.S. to have the exclusive rights to the future vaccine!
“The German newspaper Welt am Sonntag reported on Sunday that the Trump administration wanted to gain the rights to a potential vaccine and move research and development on it to the U.S., according to the Washington Post,” said The Hill. “The German newspaper reported that the vaccine would be developed ‘only for the USA.’”
Now, you would think that in a global pandemic you’d want to make the vaccine free. But I’m not a money-grubbing con man who sees his presidency as one giant grift. Most Americans are worrying about how they are going to make it through this crisis with our families and jobs intact, while members of the Trump-Kushner family seem to be trying to line their pockets.
