Earl Ofari Hutchinson is a veteran political analyst and author of several books on politics. He’s also appeared as a pundit on FOX News and MSNBC. He hosts a radio show on Pacifica. This is my conversation with him on the results of the November election:
Were you surprised at the outcome of the election? Did you think it was going to be a landslide?
No, but I predicted a relatively comfortable win for Biden.
Do you think Trump’s election challenges will be a success? And what is the long-term goal? A CNN report claimed some Republican legislators say they don’t believe the challenges are valid, but they can’t say that publicly.
He has zero chance. All state election officials have confirmed the election went smoothly with no fraud.
Trump is finished. His election was an aberration in many ways. However, Trumpism isn’t. The racial, no-nothing, raw bigoted nativism that spawned Trump will continue to create mischief for years to come. — Hutchinson
A Financial Times report showed that Trump gained among Black men without a college degree. It seems that using hip-hop stars to push a pro-Trump message had some success. What is the long-term goal of having some Black people vote for a party that advocates white nationalism and ignores police violence?
It’s scary that so many Black men were that dumb and duped to have fallen for Trump and some rappers’ phony, fraudulent appeals. There will be no long-term effect. It was an aberration. Blacks will remain, as always, overwhelmingly Democratic.
What do you say to those calling for unity after Black, Latino and Asian people were terrorized for four years?
The calls for unity from Biden and Dems would be better aimed at the GOP, (Mitch) McConnell and Trump’s millions of fanatical backers who have made it clear they have no intention of accepting Biden’s administration.
Trump seems to have been defeated. Do you think he will run again in four years?

President-elect Joe Biden relied heavily on the support of Black people. What can they expect in return for that support?
Fulfill his promises on jobs, health care, criminal justice reform, a fair share of top administration appointments, and a return to the rule of law in America
